Caraway Cookware – An Overview

Caraway Cookware Review

Caraway is one of the famous cookware brands in the USA and many other countries, even though it’s relatively new compared to many other cookware brands. It was started in 2018 by Jordan Nathan.

I’ve been using their cookware set since 2020, and they’re still performing well. The build quality is impressive, with the handles and lids in excellent condition. The cooking performance is also outstanding, consistently delivering the best results.

The only few downsides are that it’s not easy to clean, and the exterior and interior can be scratched easily. In addition to scratches, the cookware set is heavy (not recommended for those who prefer lightweight cookware).

Nevertheless, it doesn’t mean the Caraway cookware is bad. I discussed all the pros and cons so you can benefit by analyzing whether the Caraway cookware set meets your cooking requirements.

Caraway Cookware: A Detailed Feature Breakdown

Here’s the detailed breakdown of Caraway cookware features. These features aren’t just the ones that the company marketed but also the ones I noticed in the past few years. Read this till the end and find out all the answers!

Cookware Quality

The first thing that attracted me to Caraway cookware was its design. However, after receiving the cookware set, I discovered that it’s equally exceptional in terms of quality. The material of the cookware is aluminum.

It features long, sturdy, well-built stainless steel handles securely attached to the cookware. It’s been over two years, and they haven’t loosened up. My only concern is that they’re not user-friendly, as they can get quite hot and potentially lead to burns on your palms.

Lids of Caraway Cookware

The lids are also heavy and excellent in quality. On each lid, there’s a big handle on top (they also get hot easily). The non-stick coating is superb, and the bottom of the cookware doesn’t scratch the glass top stove, but I can’t say the same for the cookware surface.

Scratch on Caraway Cookware

As I mentioned, the non-stick surface is excellent, with one important caveat – you must handle it carefully. Using abrasive sponges or sharp utensils, as depicted in the image above, can lead to damage. So, proper maintenance of cookware is essential for long-term use.

Cookware Design

The next important feature of the Caraway cookware is the design. I don’t think it’s wrong to say that the design is one of the biggest reasons people go for this cookware set. It has a beautiful ceramic-coated finish.

Caraway Cookware External Design

The cookware’s shiny exterior and interior make it an attractive addition to any kitchen. The bottom of all Caraway cookware has a stainless steel base. This may seem like a small feature, but it matters a lot as it makes cookware induction-compatible.

Non-Toxic Coating

It’s impossible to forget the non-stick coating when discussing the Caraway cookware features. After the design, the non-stick coating was the second reason I chose this cookware set over others.

Caraway’s non-toxic cookware has a mineral-based ceramic coating, making it a safer option than Teflon cookware. It doesn’t possess anything harmful like PTFE or PFOA. So, if you really care about health and the environment, Caraway cookware is the way to go.

Fact: Caraway ceramic cookware has a smooth and naturally non-stick surface that doesn’t require much oil for cooking, making it a better option for health-conscious individuals.

Cooking Performance & Compatibility

Here comes the most important point: how well Caraway cookware performs while cooking. They’re extremely good; you can cook about anything, and the cookware heats up quickly and distributes the heat to the overall surface well.

All Caraway cookware is up to 550 F oven-safe, which means you can use them for baking as well. Another noteworthy feature is you can easily use the Caraway cookware on induction, electric, or gas stoves without worrying about the performance.

Ease of Cleaning

For me, the Caraway cookware is easy to use and clean. I never faced any issues because I had no problem cleaning the cookware by hand. However, if you’re someone who prefers to clean dishes in the dishwasher, I don’t think Caraway is the right choice.

Caraway cookware can’t go in the dishwasher. If you do this, the exterior and interior coating will start to wear off. It’s best to use warm water and a mild dishwasher to clean the Caraway cookware if you want to use them for years.

The Flip Side – Drawbacks of Caraway Cookware

No cookware set can be perfect in all aspects. The same case is for the Caraway cookware. Despite offering excellent quality and design, I’ve noticed a few drawbacks that are important to consider to make the best decision.

  • Needs Care: The ceramic coating can get damaged if you’re not careful while cleaning. So, avoid rough sponges and dishwashers.
  • Be Picky With Utensils: You can’t use any type of spoon you want; sharp ones or tough materials like metal spatulas can damage the coating.
  • Heavy Cookware: The Caraway cookware is on the heavier side, which might not be ideal if you prefer lighter pots and pans.

Conclusion

To sum up, Caraway cookware is no doubt an amazing brand if your priority is to get non-toxic cookware that is available in the market. The coating of Caraway cookware is ceramic, which makes it a better and healthier option than Teflon.

However, Caraway has a downside, too, which I’ve discussed above in detail. If you think that the downsides I’ve mentioned won’t be a problem for you in the future, you should definitely go for Caraway cookware. Otherwise, I would suggest you find another brand of cookware.
